Sathmari

Sathmari or the arena for elephant fights is in the southern eastern parts of the old city. It is a part plot of about acre with small stone castles built at different points where the persons provoking the elephants to fight could get shelter. The whole plot is fenced round with a wall on the top of which there is a place for spectators. Elephant fights were popular during the rule of Chh. ShahuMaharaj. Now the place used as a playground and is only remainder of the sport.
