Gadhinglaj

Gadahinglaj is a city in Kolhapur district situated in the southwest corner of state Maharashtra. A municipal council governs it. It is a Tehsil Headquarter of Gadahinglaj Taluka and a sub division Headquarter of Gadahinglaj Subdivision of Kolhapur District. Gadahinglaj is situated on the bank of the river Hiranyakeshi. It is the third largest city in Kolhapur District. It is a booming and fastest growing city in terms of population and economy in Kolhapur district. Majority of people are Hindu, very few Muslims, and a small number of other religions.

Bhairi Gadhinglaj

About three miles north of Gadhinglaj, chief temple of Bhairi where every March a fair is held attended by about 10000 people. This temple is built of rubble and mortar 30’ x 20’ x 30’ high.
