Hatkanangale

Hatkanangale has a close proximity with Kolhapur, Ichalkaranji, Bhadole and Sangali. It has a railway station on the Miraj-Kolhapur line and also has good road facility which connects it to the neighboring cities. In spite of all this and being a taluka, it is not as developed as to be called a city. It has many textile and small scale manufacturing factories. Many people travel to Ichalkaranji, Kolhapur and Sangali for work.

Ramling

The cave temple of Ramling is on the side of a rocky hill. The chief cave was originally nearly twelve feet square, but three quarters of it have turned into a cistern five feet deep. At the inner end of the temple are a rock-carved ling and a Lord Ganesh from which water always trickles. Before they can reach the ling, worshippers have generally to pass through three or four feet of water. Outside the cave-mouth, a massive Hemadpanti structure thirteen feet square rests on stone pillars. By the side of the main cave is a row of seven small cells dedicated to the seven Puranic sages or sapta risis. Near the temple are several unfailing springs, of which the Nilaganga or Blue Ganges and the Papanashini (sin-destroyer) are tirth’s or sacred pools. Alamprabhu Hills

The temple of Alam Prabhu is twenty-seven feet long, seventeen feet broad and ten feet high. Lingayats and Jains chiefly visit it. According to a local legend, Prabhu was a Lingayat saint who came to Alte village. His disciple Adiling as far as Alte followed him. As he could find no further trace of his Guru, he thought that Prabhu had buried himself alive at Alte. To show respect for his teacher, Adiling built the shrine and set up a lamp, which still kept burning and worshipped. There is a local story that the temple visited by the Emperor Alamgir or Aurangzeb (1658-1707) and presented by him with a footstool. Kumbhoj Bahubali

The Jain pilgrimage centre Kumbhoj, is approximately 30 km from the south of Kolhapur lays this holy place revered by Hindus as well as by Jain devotees who pay their respects to the 28 feet tall beautiful, artistic idol of Lord Bahubali, which is established here in 1963. Devotee visits the temple of 24 teerthankaras. A temple of Goddess Durgamata on the hill also attracts devotees.

Senapati Dhanaji Jadhav Smarak

Dhanaji Shambhusinha Jadhav (1650 – 1708), popularly known as Dhanaji Jadhav, was one of the great warriors of the Maratha Empire. His name became inseparable from the name of Santaji Ghorpade with whom he made terrifying campaigns against Mughals army continuously from 1689 to 1696. After Santaji, Dhanaji became the chief of the Maratha army in 1696 and remained on the post until his death in 1708.
