Ravneshwar Temple

Ravneshwar Mahadev Temple is considered one of the ancient Shiva temples in Kolhapur. Lord Shiva is worshipped here in the form of "Ravneshwar."

According to local legends, Ravana, the king of Lanka, was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. Some stories related to his penance and devotion are associated with this temple, which is believed to be the reason behind the name "Ravneshwar."

 

The temple is surrounded by a peaceful and scenic environment. A large number of devotees visit the temple during the holy month of Shravan, on Maha Shivaratri, and every Monday. The sacred Shivlinga inside the temple is the main attraction for worshippers.
